In all fairness, I had an idea of what I was walking into. I don't usually write or read reviews, but i read the ones for this hotel. I truly thought they were exaggerating, but they weren't. If you're not prepared for all of this...and you're not worried about falling asleep at the wheel and running off the road in the middle of the night...you might want to drive to another locale to stay.

It felt like the place was falling apart. The bathroom smelt like dirty beach water. And all the smoke detectors were taken out. The staff were very nice though.

The toilet was FULL of urine when we walked in. That...or a urine-colored disinfectant. My money is on urine. The sink had tons of whiskers in it. It looked like someone shaved a dog. The bath tub....and the toilet seat (ugh!)...had cigarette burns all over them. Think about that one for a minute. The sheets had burn holes and stains all over them. Lots of them. The mattress, we found when we changed the sheets ourselves, despite it's water proof cover, was covered in corresponding stains. Lots of them. Like a body decayed on it.

Decent rooms for a good price. About a 15min walk to MSU stadium.

Economical stay, all the nice hotels were full. This is an old, dated hotel. We found the room and linens clean, air conditioner worked fine, and electronic key card entry. Basic cable tv, no on screen guide, apparently set to HD but analog signal made for a poor viewing experience.

This was the only hotel in Starkville with a vacancy the day of the Alabama MSU football game and I booked it less than a week before kickoff. I thought that was amazing luck. Now I know that luck had nothing to do with it.

I think these folks are trying. There were signs of remodeling about the property. However, instead of the new flooring and tile and paint, they need to start with new tubs, toilet seats, mattresses, and sheets/bedding. They would get more positive returns on those items than anything else they could do.

Very nice workers. Quite and relaxing and very clean pool. Love my room was very clean and looked like it was just updated..

Now for the positives...New laminate flooring. New tile in the bathroom. A new paint job on the building and in the rooms. The daytime manager was super pleasant. The sheets, although old, full of holes, and almost tie-dyed with stains, were clean...at least to the extent that they could be.

Back side of hotel apparently had longer term guests, many cars back there, and fortunately short term were placed up front.
