All in all, I have never been disappointed with any mechanic like this before. And, I am not going to recommend this shop to a friend.
If you're a female you're more likely to get overcharged. I had my engine inspected by a computer and it costed me close to $50. In Autozone they do it for free so don't waste your money for check engine on Highway 25 Garage and go to Autozone
They didn't have a tool to diagnose when the check engine light was on on my car. I managed to get the codes from a different shop and went to him to get my car fixed. I gave him the codes; still it took him 3 days to fix one of the problems, and he had no clue about the other one, which was a vacuum leak. He kept throwing ideas in the dark and told me some parts went bad which probably didn't. He is very likely more expensive than a German car dealer: He charged me about $130 for replacing the spark plus, and I looked at many places to see if there exists that pricey spark plugs for my car since I didn't get the original receipt from him -- I could not find one which is that expensive and a very good one will cost about half of that price. I replaced some other parts myself which would have taken about $170 extra had I gotten it done from him, although he was nice enough to unplug those new parts from the car that he installed once I asked him and he didn't charge me. Unfortunately, that didn't fix all the problems since the check engine light came back on soon, and I took it to a dealer who fixed it within only a few hours, not days.
Hwy 25 garage is under new ownership as of February 2011. Raymond Woods is honest, tries to beat others' prices and does call you back both before he repairs (to tell you what's wrong and to give you the option of having it repaired or not) and then as soon as he's through with it. I'm impressed with the shop since he has taken ownership. It's a lot cleaner, and many times, I've heard him playing KLOVE 104.5 on the radio. It's my favorite station. I really like the way I'm treated there and have referred MANY people who have become return customers. Although the location is a little unsettling at times, I'm not afraid when I'm there. The only thing is, he doesn't do inspection stickers. Other than that, he's awesome.
Great mechanic shop with excellent knowledge and reasonable prices
