I would recommend that you do not live at Aspen Heights. As someone who lived there for a year, I can honestly say that I believe Aspen Heights is the most dishonest and misleading apartment complex in Starkville. But don't take my word for it. I can give you an example of how they are misleading YOU right now. You will notice that the Google reviews place the rating of Aspen Heights at an average of 4 stars. Seems pretty good right? Well if you scroll down through the reviews, you will notice that the majority of 5 star reviews came from 3 years ago. Most importantly though, you see that these a lot of 5 star reviews came from PEOPLE WHO HADN'T LIVED THERE. They post these excellent reviews, and then say things like " I cant wait to move in.", "I can already tell that my living experience with Aspen Heights is going to surpass my already high expectations" and my personal favorite is " I wish I was in college still so I could live at Aspen." Would you write a review of a restaurant that you have never eaten at? Would you give a hotel that you've never stayed at a 5 star review? So why would anyone write a review of an apartment complex that they have never lived at. My advice is to listen to the opinions of people who have a REAL experience and to not let Aspen Heights fool you like they did me. Thanks for your time.

This is going the be an honest review. The clubhouse is great, the apartment is okay, not the best. just okay. The staff knows how to deal with people. Here are the issues I have experienced though. First my roommate was never given a mailbox key, which was promised, and towards the end when we had to move out he was charged for not returning the mailbox key. Another issue is the key system, though it seems secure it often times doesn't register the key and you are left there standing outside your door, this happened a couple of times during bad weather. Everyone around was blasting their music and during late nights when my roommates and I were studying for a test, they would be drag-racing. Another issue with this place is that the doors at the bottom had a small gap to where bugs could get in. During the night we would be bombarded with cricket sounds inside out home. It also allowed flies to get in. The chairs provided around the island area were metal and were super uncomfortable. I would not recommend a guest to sit there. The chairs in the bedrooms were made of metal and wood. Imagine sitting in a pew for a long time. I couldn't take it any longer and bought a pillow for it. Also when you are moving out they will charge you for nonsense thing like deep-cleaning bedroom and that was $80, or partially painted wall which is $100. I do no suggest moving here, the road to get here is filled with several pot holes which is something they can't help. If you find yourself going to taco bell at night, on the way back when you are trying to enter Aspen Heights there will be a cluster of people at the front gate trying to get in. Their gate pass system is not optimal. They also promise transportation to school, which is nice but they fail to mention the bus comes once every 30 min. and it doesn't even drop you off at school, it drives past the school to drop you off at a stop where the actual school bus can pick you up. So if you have a 9 am class don't get on the aspen bus at 8:30 cause you will miss the class. You need to get on at 8:00 am so you can drive past the school to get to another bus stop, to where you have to wait for that bus.

The only reason I gave this review 1 star is because the apartments at Aspen Heights are nice. However, Aspen Heights has many hidden charges, and horrible insulation throughout the property; therefore, if you are not living there throughout the summer and your air conditioning unit is turned off, your utility bill will still get up to 90-100 dollars. They charge you $35 at the end of your lease for restoration of your unit, but charge you to basically make the apartment new again. I was charged $1175 and after an appeal it was reduced to $695. I refuse to pay $400 for carpet replacement when the only reason the carpet was dirty is because the carpet is white and I walked into my room everyday with shoes on. I will have to take legal action against Aspen Heights just to avoid paying them $695 when I was already spending about $729 each month on rent and utilities. THEY ARE A RIP OFF! They have over charged so many students. I come in contact with many students every day and I will share my experience. I do not recommend Aspen Heights!

It's very nice for a student housing complex. You will have to deal with some minor inconveniences such as check ins during busy times, but I see what the management is trying to accomplish with these policies. Overall, a fine place to live. Just be prepared to have to drive to campus and deal with the parking situation.

I've lived in Aspen for a semester and I think it's a great place as long as you're prepared to be an adult. If you don't want to take care of your house and call the front office for every minor problem, then maybe live on campus where you get an RA. The walls do lack insulation so you can hear everything in the house but as a college student, I don't expect a house like the one my parents own. Get a heated blanket or a space heater, bring headphones and remember that this is college living. Aspen doesn't deserve all these bad reviews, I like living here.
